Forum Down for maintenance message

Post by Admin on Sat Oct 10, 2009 3:36 am

Hello Everybody

Some of you may have noticed that from time to time you can't access the forum, because of a multilingual message from forumotion (our host) telling you that the site is under going maintenance.

I have not received any notification from Forumotion about this and looking at the forum of the forums we are not the only one that is having problems.

So, what i want to do is collect some information from you guys, so that I can use it as back up, if this situation continues, to complain to Forumotion.

What I want to know:-

Time and date you were unable to access the forum

Did you try to log in immediately afterwards and got into the forum?

How long was it before you could access the forum again?

Did you try regularly to log in or just came back later to try?

Were you using your regular PC/laptop/mac/etc

What internet Browser are you using i.e IE8, Firefox, chrome etc.?

Which OS are you running? i.e Win XP,Vista, Mac etc.

Many thanks in advance for your co-operation

ok this problem has been happening 6 or 7 times throughout the last 2 days, Thursday and Friday, I use a pretty reliable sky broadband router and plugged laptop with IE8 and Windows Vista. Usually on 3 or 4 of the occasions I could log back in after a minute or so but a couple of occasions it went on for a couple of hours and I gave up trying until later on in the day. Haven't yet noticed a problem today though i've only just logged on.

I think my reaction isn,t reliable on this but:

Sinds I downloaded Mozilla Firefox and Chrome I have no problems what so-ever to get to the forum.

When I try it with IE8 there is no connection, not even when I try to click on a link from recent forum message link.
Not even when I copy and paste this link above in browser into the IE8.

I use a PC, Microsoft XP.
Eric

I use IE8 and had a some problems a few days ago when I spoke to you Mez but since then its been fine !

As I said at the time I bet it's Microsoft making problems which will be "solved" when they release Windows 7. But hey, I'm paranoid !!! lol

My personal paranoia is that it is the US Government making problems so that they can declare it was an attempted Terrorist attack on our personal freedom of speech. This is so that Obama can get his bill passed that will give the government the ability to restrict access to the internet in the event of a hostile attack using the internet. My paranoia is bigger than yours! na na nana na!

I was on the forum at about 1.30pm i tried navigating to read a post and got the home page for forumotion inviting me to start a free forum. I tried for about 5 minutes to reconnect to the forum but no luck. I was at work ... XP IE8 no flash player so the forum looks **** but thats not forumotion's fault. lol
