How is the economy in other countries....???
Hi Folks,
Contrary to what you may be hearing from U.S. media the economy in the States still sucks. I got laid off months ago but a friend back at the company pulled me back for 6 months. I only have 2 months left, and I've been looking for a new job with little success. I'm a physicist with 19 years of experience (Bell Labs) and not much to look forward to these days. Pretty sad when your country doesn't value their scientist anymore and would rather have politicians making the big money.
How is the economy in your country, I'm curious?
Thanks, I feel better now!!!
Roy

Re: How is the economy in other countries....???
hmmm now there is a leading question. General concensus is that it is bad. However we have had just had a change of government and they say that its really bad and have started cutting public spending really drastically. Independant sources claim that the previous governments tactics were working and had actually paid of a lot more deficit than expected. I personally feel that the current governments financial strategy is wrong and will actually force the UK into a double dip recession with thousands losing their jobs and their homes and declaring bankruptcy. I feel that the current government is interested in only keeping the rich rich and the not rich poorer. but this is my opinion and may not be shared by others.

All of the economic problems is going to come down to all of the (still) working people.
Extra tax payments, police tickets, less pension, working longer untill the age of 67 instead of 65. ect.
The Dutch are working on a new government, that has to cut costs of an amount of: 18 billion Euro's.
The new children that are born allready have a det of several 100.000 of Euro's.
I think that if we are not careful we ( the Netherlands) will be following the next countrys in bankruptie: Greece - Portugal - Spain - France - . . . . .
Joining the European union: If I and my nahbour have 100 Euro's, woudn,t you want to join if you only have 50 Euro's?
It,s almost like in highscool, the good students have to pay for the consuquencess of the bad students.
The moral of the story: defide the loss among the working class that still can pay the gread of . . . . the one that we blame for this economic crycis.

Wow, Like Mez and Eric, The economy problem is the same in france and we start also a big program about reduce all expenditures.
The statutory retirement age is also elongated .
Then, for make fast, it's not a great period for too many country and I think we don't know where all that will going .
Like Mez said, I want said here something said by a comedian(called COLUCHE) famous in france: " the rich will have food and the poor will have appetite "

The end of my job is 1.5 months away....oh my...I hope to find another soon.
I've not been on much whereas I've been working hard to find another job. I may be playing a lot more halo if I don't get something soon...
